We have an opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to join our team in Apeldoorn. The Quantity Surveyor will control the project’s commercial and contractual position through the application of knowledge and experience in risk management, project cost control, contract and subcontractor management and the financial management of the project through the application of expert knowledge of labour, materials and subcontracting cost with an understanding of the implications of design decisions, scope changes and project delays.

Tasks:

Key Areas of Responsibility
  • Assist in the management of the flow of information to and from the Company to ensure compliance with the contract program and contractual commitments. Comply with Global Major Projects (GMP) reporting procedures as set out in the GMP Management Operating System document.
  • Support the Project Director and package Project Managers to prepare Contractual correspondence with reference to specific entitlements and time bars as set out in the Contract (e.g. EOT, delay notices, variations).
  • Work with the Project Director to develop a site handbook highlighting the project team’s commercial and contractual requirements relating to rights and obligations under contract, key processes and requirements for the development and submission of claims for variations, extension of time and other claims.
  • Maintain an audit file for each contract which will include original contract, all correspondence, changes/deviations, amendments, clarifications, payment schedules. - Liaise with the Pacific Commercial Manager and legal support as required.
  • Manage the variation process, claims and where appropriate negotiations
  • Manage the EOT process, claims and where appropriate negotiations
  • Responsible for the submission of compliant monthly applications inclusive of all paperwork, measure sheets, back-up timesheets and ensures technical and commercial completeness
  • Responsible for the development and management of commercial registers that detail all submissions, their substantiation requirements, follow up requirements and timing and ensure that no claim for time or money is lost due to Honeywell’s failure to meet the specific requirements of the contract.
  • Manage all claims against HW by subs or counter claims by Clients or other stakeholders
  • Ensure the Company position is secured financially and contractually
  • Responsible for the ownership and management of accurate project costs as they relate to the final estimate actual cost at completion (EAC) - Assist Supply Chain in the selection and appointment of subcontractors to ensure back to back terms and conditions of appointment.

Requirements:

Education / Qualifications
  • Experience of Contract law and Security of Payment Acts preferred
  • Relevant degree or diploma qualification desired, likely to include Quantity Surveying,
  • Project management education or certification desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team
  • Construction Management, Engineering or Building Services.
  • Dutch and English full proficiency required
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office and Excel is essential.
  • Strong business, communications, and interpersonal relationship skills are essential.

Nice to have:

Membership of a QS body (e.g. AIQS, RICS) is an advantage.
Knowledge of HVAC, Building Management Systems, Fire Alarm Systems, and Security Systems is an advantage
