All About You
Under administrative direction, the Head Coach is responsible for the development, oversight, and management of all aspects of the competitive National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving programs. The Head Coach leads the following efforts for the Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving programs: recruitment of qualified student-athletes with a commitment to academic success; compliance with NCAA, Atlantic 10, and university rules and regulations; budget management; fundraising activities; community development; and organizing and directing camps and clinics.Administers the swimming and diving programs for the athletics department; coaches at all scheduled meets; organizes and conducts all practice sessions; provides one-on-one instruction; oversees student team members’ athletic and academic development.

Positions Supervised: Assistant Coaches, Graduate Assistant Coach
Job Responsibilities
  • Coordinates the daily organization and overall administration of the men’s and women’s swimming and diving program
  • Schedules and conducts all practices and home meets
  • Responsible for NCAA compliance
  • Monitors budget and finances for the swim program
  • Organizes and conducts all practice sessions; provides one-on-one instruction; oversees student team members’ athletic and academic development
  • Responsible for recruitment of men’s and women’s swimmers
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Prior head coaching experience required
  • Proven ability to work independently, prioritize, and complete tasks in a timely manner
  • Excellent communication skills required for working with diverse groups
  • Strong written communication skills; excellent organizational skills with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion handling sensitive matters involving student-athletes

Minimum Qualifications –An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered. (Additional requirements may be designated by position.)
Bachelor’s degree; supplemented with five (5) years of related experience; previous collegiate coaching and recruiting experience required; ability to work non-traditional hours including nights and weekends.
