Job Overview
The Software Project Manager will work as part of product development activities, to achieve the desired program SW goals, on-time delivery, performance, quality, and budget. Serving as the SW program leader, this professional will be the interface between SW team and external stakeholders. The SW PM will support the SW development following the V-Cycle, monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPI) during all software development lifecycle, focus to identify potential risks, corrective actions, and report results and quality metrics to FCA senior management and program teams. All this activity shall be in accordance with the guidelines of time and quality determined by FCA. The SW Project Manager will be inserted in a global development context working with professionals from other global regions. The knowledge about the best practices program management as well as software development is mandatory for this position. The knowledge about agile development methodology and/or Project Management Certifications should be an additional advantage.
Program Manager is responsible for:
  • To ensure that all program targets are identified and communicated
  • Status to target tracked and communicated per program requirements
  • To verify and manage planning timelines for project development, integrating the information coming from all company functions and communicate program direction and changes
  • To manage and to communicate key sourcing milestone dates
  • Lead management team meetings for program & key issue approval
  • To assure, with support of the Model Planner, the accomplishment of project milestones and gate review compliance according to Product & Process Development Plan
  • Coordinate/assist during all the development phases KPI reporting (program readiness)
  • Lead creation of Senior Management presentation decks as required and coordinate presentation pre-reviews
  • Identify/communicate program cost/investment loop schedule and management reviews
  • To define, together with key stakeholders launch cadence
  • Ensure cost / investment recovery actions are identified/implemented as necessary
  • Lead viability investigation on product / engine grid modification initiatives as necessary via the corporate bulletin system

Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent (Materials /Chemical/ Civil/ Aerospace/Computer/Computer Science or equivalent) from an ABET accredited university
  • 8 years of work experience as SW PM, or related areas such as Software developer, Test Engineer or Systems Engineer
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle activities (all phases)
  • Understanding of the Software Management and best practices, methodologies, tools and Processes
  • Problem solving
  • Work in a collaborative environment
  • Have a good understanding of electronics (hardware, software)
  • Communication and collaboration skills
  • Knowledge of best practices Program Management
  • Knowledge of Automotive SPICE, CMMI and ISO/IEC 33000 (ASPICE preferred)
  • Software architecture design and programming experience
  • Knowledge of Agile and Scrum methodologies
  • Knowledge of software integration and testing
  • Software testing in environments such as SIL, MIL, HIL and on target and to loop
  • Test automation tools

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university
  • Project Management Certification
  • Ability to communicate in Portuguese or Italian
