Pension Technology Business Analyst 2 - open to all US locations at Willis Towers Watson

The Role

The Pension Business Analyst supports the delivery of superior benefits administration services to Willis Towers Watson clients. The full time position requires an individual who is comfortable with benefits administration systems and client contact and working as part of a global team with counterparts in North America and Asia Pacific.


  • Provide technical support, including root cause identification, for the administration of ongoing benefit system activities
  • Using SQL, extract and analyze participant data to solve issues and/or to deliver required information Troubleshoot issues with data feeds and extracts. Work with the team to understand issues, identify and execute the corrections.
  • Perform and unit test system configurations using SQL to complete the updates
  • Assist with testing for administration system, participant web, interfaces, release upgrades and new system functionality
  • Perform and test data updates; add new data components into the administration system
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment in responding to and resolving client issues
  • Draft test plans and maintain thorough documentation of testing and configuration performed
  • Update the specifications to detail the updates being made to system components and outputs
  • Configure, maintain, and test updates to participant communication including personalized forms and letters, generic letters and plan information
  • Provide back up for other team members as needed
  • Attend ongoing client status meeting as needed to establish client relationship
  • Attend internal project meetings to ensure project continuity into ongoing
  • Meet service level agreements across all clients
  • Meet billable hour goals and participate in the maintenance and accuracy of the team’s workboard
  • Work within prescribed budget for each project
  • Identify potential out of scope work and new opportunities to client teams
  • Take initiative to proactively share knowledge and/or experience with team members
  • Develop strong partnerships with team members
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the team to meet internal and client objectives

  • Assist project team with client assignments to deliver timely, within-budget and high quality work

  • Help develop and maintain system processing documentation
  • Analyze process workflow and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness
  • Gain an understanding of the administration system components

The Requirements

  • 2+ years Pension system experience required
  • Ability to gain a strong understanding of the administrative process as it relates to Pension plans
  • Professional and responsible approach to work, clients, and colleagues
  • Strong analytical, and problem solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office tools including Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Strong experience with SQL or other programming language
  • Ability to plan and execute testing for software and/or web-based applications
  • Ability to synthesize information from multiple stakeholders to create requirement documentation
  • Ability to work both independently, and on virtual teams that have colleagues in different geographic regions
